Using the basis of the Fokker F28 Fellowship, the Fokker 100 was developed in 1985 to compete with the other aircraft manufacturers. This new aircraft type offered a seating capacity of up to 109 passengers and featured new Rolls-Royce Tay engines. With new improved flight characteristics and a modern digital avionics suite, it was the top of its class. A total of 283 Fokker 100 aircraft were built.
